Swami Shivapadananda on the death mantra
SWAMI
SHIVAPADANANDA
DAILY READINGS
Taken from
Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
Day 369
Do not speak of your spiritual experiences. If you do,
their secret is gone, so keep quiet.
Calmness helps us to go within, but only helps.
This should be the prayer [mantra] of a dying person: ‘Let my brain be merged with the all-pervading inmost prana [life-force, Chi, Ki] and may the body be returned to ashes.’
This is my message to you all: ‘Meditate, meditate, meditate! Take God’s name, take God’s name, take God’s name!
Love, love, love!’ What is love? You don’t know? In the beginning it seems to be when someone hurts you and you do not retaliate.
If you are not pure pranayama [yogic breathing
exercises] leads to sex perversion.
The body is the temple of God so worship it. When your senses are under control think that God speaks through you and you speak to God.
Swamiji: Go deeper in meditation.
Devotee: Can’t, Swamiji.
Swamiji: Can. Must. Sit in the early morning - that is
the best time to sit for a long time, and just let the thoughts come, no matter
if they are good or bad.
Carry a photo of your guru, speak to it, feed it. Make it real, make it living.
