I loved Shiva so much, that if anybody said Rama or Krishna, I didn't even want to see that person. I went through this fanatical period - I did - in my life. I would not want to see that other fellow. I'd speak sweetly but inside I'd be saying, 'Hmm - out with this thing!'
But later on, at my guru's [Sri Swami Nischalananda - pictured] feet, he threw some light, which was Supreme Light. Then, everything became love. Even if you are worshipping the devil - to me it means nothing. The devil is God's power, too. The devil has no power of its own. In the Bible it tells you. Who made the devil?' [devotees answer]… God. And do you know what the devil is?...the ego [ahamkara]. The?...ego! That's a stepping stone. If you are very egoistic, then God will break you one day. But you will still reach him. You will still?...reach him. You must reach him.
